Employer Sponsor

With the skills required by Australian employers, an employer-sponsored visa will enable you to work and pursue your future in Australia. These visas will enable employers who have been approved to sponsor skilled employees in cases that they are unable to identify local talent. Based on the visa type you apply, you can also become eligible to permanent residency.

Our team assists you in comprehending the appropriate employer-sponsored visa, in preparing papers, and through the application process.

Skills in Demand (SID) Visa - Subclass 482

The Skills in Demand (SID) Visa (Subclass 482) enables employers in Australia to sponsor skilled workers to do jobs which are in demand. It provides qualified professionals opportunity to reside and work in Australia for up to four years. It can also result in long-term residency in most instances should the required conditions be fulfilled.

Streams Under the SID Visa

The Subclass 482 visa has three main streams:

Specialist Skills Stream

It is a stream of highly skilled professionals that work in specialised occupations. It tends to be applicable in high-income jobs that demand advanced skills and experience.

Core Skills Stream

Core Skills Stream applies to those workers whose occupations are on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL). It encompasses most skilled jobs in various sectors, such as technical, trade, and service jobs.

Labour Agreement Stream

It is a stream of workers hired by employers with a labour agreement with the Australian Government. These contracts are designed to address labour shortages in particular sectors.

Eligibility for Subclass 482 Visa

  • Be nominated by an approved Australian employer.
  • Be employed in a job that is on the eligible occupation list.
  • Have at least one year of work experience in your profession or a very closely related job.
  • Take a talents test when needed by your job.
  • Possess the necessary standard of English language.
  • Get the appropriate health insurance during a stay in Australia.
  • Meet Australia’s health and character requirements.

Benefits of the Subclass 482 Visa

  1. Work and live in Australia up to 4 years.
  2. Acquire important international work experience.
  3. Introduce qualified family members.
  4. Study while living in Australia.
  5. Have a route to permanent residency, in case of eligibility.
  6. Work with a sponsored employer.

Permanent Employer-Sponsored Visas

A permanent employer-sponsored visa is another program that is available to skilled workers in Australia. The types of visas enable qualified applicants to live and work in Australia permanently once the necessary conditions are met.

The most common permanent employer-sponsored visa is the Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186). Earlier regional visa options such as the Subclass 187 have been replaced by newer regional employer-sponsored visa programs for new applicants.

Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186)

Under the Subclass 186 Visa, skilled employees can be nominated by an Australian employer to obtain permanent Australian residency.

Streams Under 186 Visa

Applicants can use either of the following streams:

Direct Entry Stream

Appropriate for trained personnel with the necessary qualifications, work experience, and skills evaluation of an eligible job.

Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) Stream.

It is targeted at qualified employees with previous service to Australia with their sponsoring employer under an eligible temporary work visa and who satisfy the conditions.

Labour Agreement Stream

Open to those applicants who have been nominated under a certified labor agreement between the employer and the Australian Government.

Employer Nomination Scheme

Eligibility for the 186 Visa

Generally, applicants are required to:

  • Be nominated by a valid Australian employer.
  • Possess appropriate qualifications and experience.
  • Meet the English language requirement.
  • Typically be less than 45 years old except when there is an exemption.
  • Adhere to health and character standards.
  • Meet the visa-related work experience requirements.

Benefits of the 186 Visa

Subclass 186 visa will allow permanent residency privileges, which include:

  1. Permanent residence and work in Australia.
  2. Add qualified family members to your application.
  3. Access Medicare, Australia’s public healthcare system.
  4. Apply to become an Australian citizen.
  5. Get permanent residency through sponsored relatives.
  6. Travel freely in and out of Australia according to visa travel conditions.

How the 186 Visa Application Works

Application processes typically entail two phases:

  • A nomination for the position is provided by an approved Australian employer.
  • The nominated applicant makes the visa application upon the approval of the nomination or within the stipulated time.

To make the application process easier, one can prepare all the necessary documents.

Regional Employer-Sponsored Visas

The former Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (Subclass 187) is no longer open for new Direct Entry applications. Newer regional visa programs have replaced regional employer-sponsored migration.

Nevertheless, in special cases, applicants who satisfy the transition requirements established by previous arrangements could be allowed.

By offering skilled workers the chance to live and work in regional Australia, regional employer-sponsored visas will still be beneficial by assisting local employers experiencing a skill shortage.
